Location and surroundings

The camp lies in Upper Bavaria, in the Alpine foothills, at a lake with a view of the mountains. Meadows and moorland give way to gentle hills here, and the Alps rise to the south. On clear days you can see the peaks from the shore, and when the foehn blows they seem within reach.

We are planning the camp so that you can walk from your pitch to the water. In the morning mist often hangs over the lake, by noon it turns warm, and in the evening the mountains glow pink. The villages around have beer gardens, bakeries and farm shops that make life on site easy.

The location is convenient for trips. You reach Garmisch-Partenkirchen in approx. 25 minutes, Starnberg in approx. 35 minutes and Munich in approx. 55 minutes. So you decide whether you want nature, city or both.

Accommodation

In Bavaria you can choose between five types of accommodation. Pitch S is designed for up to two people, Pitch L for up to four and Pitch XL for up to six, for example with a caravan or a large tent. The glamping tent offers real beds for up to four people. The tiny house is meant for up to three people and has its own bathroom. Electricity is included at all pitches.

Dogs are welcome. Just let us know with your request and we will confirm it for your accommodation.

What you can do here

Between lake and mountains you find movement and calm in whatever mix you like:

  • Swimming: Alpine foothill lakes warm up surprisingly well in summer. From the shore meadows you step straight into the water.
  • Hiking: Marked trails of every difficulty lead from the lakeshore into the mountains. Start early and you are at an alpine hut by noon.
  • Cycling: Between lakes, meadows and villages there are quiet cycle paths. With an e-bike, the climbs into the mountains are very doable too.
  • Wellness: After a long day, a sauna is planned at the camp. It is the place to sweat the tiredness out of your legs.
  • Trips into the Alps: Cable cars, alpine pastures and gorges are within an hour. The border to Austria is not far.
  • Cities and culture: Munich, Augsburg and Innsbruck offer museums, markets and old towns for a day away from the water.

Best time to visit

From June to September the lake is warm enough for swimming, and the days are long. Early summer brings flowering meadows, September clear views of the mountains and quieter villages. In October the deciduous forests change colour and the trails empty out.

The camp is expected to open in spring and close in autumn. We will announce the exact dates before opening.

Getting there

By car you reach the camp from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in approx. 0:25 h, from Starnberg in approx. 0:35 h and from Munich in approx. 0:55 h. From Augsburg and Innsbruck it is approx. 1:15 h each, from Salzburg approx. 2:15 h and from Stuttgart approx. 2:45 h. The times refer to the drive from each city centre, and the diagram above shows the directions.

For orientation: you usually arrive from 3 pm and leave by 11 am.

Questions about this location

Yes. The site lies on a meadow by the water, distances are short, and there is plenty of room to play. A nature playground and a baby changing room are planned for the camp.

Can I swim in the lake?

Yes, swimming is possible in summer. Alpine foothill lakes stay fresh even in high summer, though. Please follow the notices on site and do not leave children unattended.

What can I do in bad weather?

The surroundings offer museums, indoor pools and cosy inns. Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen are easy to reach on a rainy day.
